There is no hidden treasure knowing about the popularity of TV jodis in a TV show. An onscreen Television couple can make or break a TV show. The chemistry of both the leads, if works can spell magic into the hearts of audiences and they keep ruling on them forever. Here we are talking about Indian audiences and when we talk about India as a nation. It is related with emotions and sentiments. The viewership is also driven highly by emotions which is not the case with western audiences or other nations audiences. People here like dramatic, over dramatic and melodramatic TV serials because they connect their emotions with that of the characters being portrayed in the show especially when it comes to Indian Television Couples. But why does it make it such a curious case? Let's find out
We have already witness the backlash and hate towards the makers of 'Iss Pyaar Ko Kya naam doon' as they could not retain fan's favourite couple - Sanaya Irani and Barun Sobti. Instead Sanaya was replaced by Shivani Tomar. And this is not the first instance, it has been seen many times when any actor or actress gets replaced especially if they are gelling well with the audiences as a couple. The audience just can't it. Just move to the flashback when Ekta Kapoor had to face the wrath when 'Mihir' was declared dead in 'Kyunki Saas bhi Kabhi Bahi Thi'. The show was indeed popular however the popularity began becoz of the Mihir And Tulsi Pair. There was so much of backlash that Ekta had to devised a unique track to bring 'Mihir' aka Amar Upadhyay back in the show. If it was not the 'couple - power' then what is it?
Similarly, there have been many instances where the obsession of fans towards their favourite couples seems to cross all boundaries. Star One show 'Geet' which had the popular 'Drashti Dhami and Gurmeet Chaudhary' was never a success on TRP's yet it was a highly popular show and because of the onscreen chemistry of the both leads alone, the show has managed to rule the hearts for so long. Not just that there have been such instances where fans have forced the onscreen couple to fall in love in real lives and even getting married. Such is the destiny. Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan from Kutumb are such kind of an example. They completely denied dating each other while working and one day news of their wedding was all over the place. Fans couldn't be more happier. Some more examples are - Shakti Anand-Sai Deodhar Manav Gohil-Shweta Kawatra, Indraneil Sengupta and Barkha Bisht, Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Sheikh
But not everything ends up in good, sometimes there are pairs who completely hate each other off screen and can't even stand by each other. This leaves the fans disappointed as well : Few examples are Shweta Tiwari Cezzane Khan, Deepika Singh - Anas Rashid, Niti Taylor - Parth Samthaan. But as actors and professionals, they have to keep their differences aside and work together to please the fans. Because if fans are not pleased the ratings shall not arrive, but that is the general assumption. Television viewership is unpredictable but what is definitely predictable is the love of fans towards a particular couple. Whether the story is good or not, its mainly the romance and spark between the couples that draws most of the attention. Ironically the romance factor is usually ruled out in a TV script. The lead onscreen couple tends to fight more and have misunderstandings between them with unnecessary drama and sentiments. But this is what the audience is hooked upon. They wait for their couples to get united and then share romantic moments..even if those barely exist. The producers are always smart enough to keep the leads away from each other so the tension between the audiences stays intact after all..this is what is being clicked with the audiences? But is a TV couple's strength only a matter to a show. Isn't there much for a TV show to offer if romance is being ruled out?
An industry person spoke on the issue - TV audiences relate more with the idea and concept of 'romance' when it comes to TV shows. They want to see attractive faces good looking handsome actors and beautiful actresses however what clicks is the chemistry between them. You can not predict what would click. You can launch a lavish and a hugely expensive TV production featuring Two new leads and after 3 months you would know the show is taken off air. And sometimes a mini series being launched with two new leads and the popularity is such that the makers are forced to extend the show. It's totally unpredictable. However, he also said that at the end its the content that matters.. Of course, In any show or any production script comes first. Script is the thing which is bringing two people in the show together if script falters TRP's will go down as well. A couple's chemistry definitely gives a boost to the show. But it can not totally rely to run on that.

Finally Ranbir and Katrina starrer Jagga Jasoos shall see the light of the day. The film has been delayed for so long but thankfully god has been kind and it is setting its path clear for the release. However despite all good intentions and with all good prayers for the film and stars, there are few factors that have kept us a little concerned for this film. And if any of them really comes out true then the film might just miss the mark. However, we wish the filmmakers all the best but since the article is about presenting those concerns here are 5 factors where we think the film 'might' just be a miss.
1. Delay Delay and More Delay
Jagga Jasoos has been in the making for sometime now. Actually we have been hearing about the film since 5-6 years may be even before that when the movie was in development. These days movies are made on a tight schedule and get released on time but Jagga has been delayed for so long....that people actually may have lost interest. However, According to Ranbir it was only for the betterment of the movie. We wish his words come true.
2. Unimpressive Music
Some sites are reporting that the music has been liked by people but that is not the truth. Ask any random person on the road and he wouldn't be sure if the music of the film has been even released or not. These days every music is considered successful on 'YouTube million views' and that explains everything why music industry has been suffering so much. Jagga Jasoos needed a HIT musical album even before the release. But we really hope the songs pick up after the release.
3. Targeting Kids :
The film is actually targeting kids and family audiences if we look at the trailer and this is a nice move. The trailer suggests the movie could be fun for kids and they would certainly enjoy it. However the makers could have added more masala in the trailer to ensure that age section gets kicked about the film. At this point, this is just an idea. The clear picture shall be out on Friday whether everyone including kids give the film thumbs up or not. It's all about the content.
4. Controversies
Jagga Jasoos looks like a clean entertainer and an enjoyable and it should have a fine release. But the film has always remained in controversies be it Ranbir-Katrina break up stories or the film being shelved or the recently the fiasco happened between Govinda and the makers. We really hope that all these controversies should not affect the film and it scores really well on box office.
5. Budget
The film is reportedly expensive although the exact budget is not known but looking by the trailer you can assume that it is a costly film and a very Important film for the Industry. At times where small budget films are scoring over big budget films, It is surely going to be a risky task. But of Course, we had BahuBali which had such a massive budget and did extremely well, so we should keep our hopes high for Jagga Jasoos as well.
At the end, it's our only wish that this friday brings only cheers and smiles to Ranbir, Katrina and all their fans out there. And Jagga Jasoos becomes the most special movie of 2017.
Often Indian TV shows run for long or should we say drag and stretch for long. They lose their essence after a point and do not stick to the plot. The viewers also cringe while watching their favourite shows when the concept is deviated and things start taking different turns. In order to gain strong viewership and numbers, logic is completely defied, and common sense is ruled out. Writers of the show just give into the pressure. When you say fiction and fictitious, both the terms exaggerate to the point beyond a line and entertainment value is devoured.
In an Interesting survey, many fans and viewers have come up with an idea that the writers of the show should be replaced by some fans who can actually take the show better instead of writers who basically lose the plot after the whole. After introducing a brilliant storyline and superb characters in the beginning it’s the writing that falters afterwards and needs to take the blame rather we blame the creative of the show because at the end, they are just following the script. The fans say they can better connect with the characters after a point and they know how tracks should be introduced.
In an Interesting survey, We spoke to some fans of the ongoing shows like Ishqbaaz, Ghulaam, Chandra Nandini, KumKum Bhagya, Sasural Simar Ka, Kasam Tere Pyar Ki, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Naagin and basically all the shows that are ON-AIR and they felt that the writers should be taking suggestions from fans in taking the story forward in a far more proper manner. It is better to take logical suggestions than to make the mockery of the storyline. Some fans even willing to do the job for free in the aid to show support love for their favourite shows and characters whereas the writers are officially paid.
But even Writers have a unique stand to hold on their own. When the brilliant writer ‘Aseem Arora’ who wrote the amazing POW for StarPlus was criticized for giving a bland ending to ‘Paanch’ – one of his biggest commercial and critical success. He had his own reasoning, Once with an Interaction with a fan on social media he explained that the audiences is not generally aware what happens behind the show, the creative meetings that takes place on how the show should be shaped up. So it is easy for anyone to form an opinion on the basis of just viewing a show. Fans suggest that there is no harm in taking a show forward for years because at the end when viewers are emotionally attached to their favourite shows and they may not want to lose them however the illogical tracks involving stereotypes that plagues a TV show ruins the essence. Sometimes there are tracks in TV shows which are not even needed suppose – The curse of the tiger track in &TV ‘Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum’ did not make any sense but still the viewers were somehow glued to it. The story was about two aspiring singers and their relationship. but by the time that track ended, the show was itself packed up.
But the writers have their own take as well. They do not have much creative freedom to do away things with the storyline. The pressure to perform on numbers is really huge. Also, in a daily TV show format, you are not much left to bring fresh ideas always. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. But usually the writers have to follow a basic line involving the story so that the viewership of the show remains intact especially if you want the show to stick around for long. Gone are the days when TV shows were considered successful. In these times, It’s all about how long can you survive. Otherwise you get tipped off.
The only suggestion needed is to take ideas and suggestions and they can be implemented well into the story, the creative team should give out e-mails for the public and fans where they can send the ideas on what should happen in a show and what not? Even if the ideas do not work well, they still can be considered. After all there is no loss for anyone. Isn’t it? |
